Tim was a great guy who guided me through the craziness of computer snafus most of which I usually caused myself. He chatted to me about his beloved daughter, wife and soccer while showing this old lady the computer ropes.

I’ve know Tim for 50 years. What a wonderful young man with such a big smile, and a great personality. What a devastating loss to the Vancleave family and friends. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. He was so young and he fought so hard. I feel privileged to have known him. ❤️🙏

My deepest condolences to Tim’s family. I first met him almost 30 years ago when I was just starting to referee soccer. He was a mentor to me in my early years on the soccer pitch and always took the time to help teach me. His professionalism, wisdom and sense of humor were amazing gifts and I will miss him very much. Thank you Tim.

Tim was the brother I always wanted. He and my husband Ryan also become close. He would do anything to help. Always joking and making me laugh. I first met Tim when he coached my daughter’s soccer team. He was the best coach and allowed everyone to play. Even the best players were required to sit out allowing all to play. Never once was there a complaint from parents. He adored his daughter and wife. There’s a special place in heaven form Tim. This world is a sadder place without him. I will miss him terribly. Bye my brother by choice!

Timothy E. Vancleave, 57, passed away on July 7, 2023, during a courageous battle with cancer.  Despite the pain, Tim’s unwavering faith was evident as he kept his smile and stayed strong knowing he was going home with the Lord.

Tim was welcomed into this world on July 1, 1966, by his parents, James and Esther (Luffman) Vancleave, his sister, Clara Jean, and his brother, Jim.

Tim was a devoted husband to his wife, Michelle (Knight) Vancleave for 25 years and a dedicated father to their daughter, Rachel Vancleave. Tim demonstrated his love and commitment to his family in absolutely everything he did.

Tim graduated from North High School in 1984, where he participated as a talented drummer for their marching band, a competent wrestler, and goalie for their soccer team. Tim continued playing soccer while he attended the University of Southern Indiana, where he graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.

Tim was dependable and trustworthy as the Senior IT Specialist for Vanderburgh County’s Judicial System. His strong work ethic was undeniable as he continued to work every day without a complaint, in spite of side effects from radiation and chemotherapy treatments.

Along with coaching kids’ soccer, Tim also enjoyed his role as a high school and college soccer referee. He liked sci-fi movies,  golfing with his dad, and doing crossword puzzles with his mom.  Most of all, Tim looked foward to lazy days playing video games with his daughter, Rachel, and Sunday dinners with his brother, Jim, and family, Diane, Nathan, and J.T.

Tim Vancleave had a contagious smile and a friendly ‘hello’ for everyone. He will be remembered as a loyal friend and loving, family man, for his patience and generosity, his easy-going attitude, and his sense of humor.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ester Vancleave, and his sister, Clara Jean Gould.

Tim will be honored with a Celebration of Life service on July 12, 2023, from 5:30 – 7:00 pm with services to begin at 7:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home on St. George Rd in Evansville, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society and Youth First.
