Bob “Rooney” James, 76, of Evansville, Indiana passed away peacefully at home on August 26, 2019. He was born in Mt. Vernon, Indiana to the late Earl and Lucille (Reed) James.
Bob is a United States Army veteran and worked for Whirlpool Corporation for 35 years. When he wasn’t busy working and providing for his family he enjoyed fishing, camping, and cookouts with his family. Bob spent time in Germany while he was in the Army. Bob also liked dancing to sock hop music and bowling. He met his loving wife, Sharon at Diamond Lanes in Evansville while she was filling in for another league member.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Sharon (Hunter) James; daughters, Tonya Shafer (Steve Combs), Terri (Mike) Wagnon, Susan (Steven) Thompson; son, Randy James; grandchildren; Eric (Chrissa) James, Amber (Corey) Attebury, Justin (Leslie) James, Jessica Robb, Jaylynne Shafer, Kelsee (Quinn) Keitel, Shellie (Terry) and Shauna Thompson, Shawn, Shane, and Ashley James; siblings, Becky (Tom) Dann, Denny (Cathy) James and Patti Bowan; many loving great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins; special dog Zorro.
Bob was preceded in death by; his parents; brothers, Alan, Joe, and Delbert James; grandson, Josh James; son-in-law, Duane Shafer.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 12:00 noon at Sunset Funeral Home, 1800 St. George Rd., Evansville, IN. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
