Geraldine Hawes, 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 25, 2021. She was born on April 25, 1953, to JP and Nellie Hawes in Evansville, Indiana.
Geri was a loving mother who adored time spent with her family. She attended Henry Reis and North High School and went on to graduate from Ivy Tech with an accounting and bookkeeping degree. She was a food connoisseur and a chocoholic. She enjoyed tuning in for Shark Week and loved the beach. She was an avid reader, she loved all genres. She was extremely intelligent and loved to learn. She worked for the Shriner’s for several years. She was so loved and will be missed greatly.
Geri was preceded in death by her parents and sister Linda Hawes; and her close friend Sharon Williams.
Geri is survived by her children Bobbi Payton, James Kessinger Jr. (Tamela), Melanie Menser; sisters Debbie Hawes and Joyce (Eddie) Miller; grandchildren Dylan, Courtney and Levi Payton, Ricky and Madison-Rae Kessinger, and Isabella (Charlie) Menser, Jamie Ford Jr.; and many nieces and nephews and loving family.
Service for Geraldine will be held on July 2nd, 2021, at Sunset Funeral Home. The family will accept friends and visitors from 2 pm until the time of service at 3 pm with a water burial to follow at 4 pm.
