John (Jack) Bernard Thomas, 84, of Conroe, Texas, formerly of Alford, Florida and Evansville, Indiana passed away on August 21, 2022.
John was a proud Naval man, beloved husband, and father who led a full and happy life. After attending Reitz Memorial High School, John joined the Navy where he served as a radioman in the submarine service for 20 years. He loved the sea and all the places that it took him. Traveling the world brought him so much joy. The only thing he loved more than the sea was his family, so after 20 years of service he retired and moved back to Evansville to start his second career as an HVAC repairman. He worked hard to make sure his family always had all that they needed and provided a happy and stable home.
John was always the life of the party. He never met a stranger in his life. He made all those who were lucky enough to spend time with him feel special. He was funny and his sense of humor was one of his best traits. Even on a bad day, he could make you smile.
He loved reading, playing cards and was always active in his church and community. In his later years, he loved to play golf, travel, and watch old Westerns. He was a devoted family man who was married to Edna, his wife of 63 years, before her passing in 2020. He will be sorely missed.
