April 15, 2020 at 11:01 pmI was deeply saddened to learn the news about Martty! We went to school from elementary- high school and later worked together briefly at the Shoe Carnival. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word to say and was extremely funny. If you were having a bad day Marty would brighten it by just walking into the room. My thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family and all of his many friends!
Marty Jay Grant, 56, passed away on April 12, 2020. He was born on June 14, 1963 to Bennie and Cora Lee Grant in Evansville, Indiana.
Marty served his country in the United States Army as a Tank Commander. After his service, he worked in the Pharmaceutical Department at the State Hospital for 20 years. Marty was a very generous man and was known for doing anything he could for anyone he met. He loved spending time with his family, friends, and fiancé. One of Marty’s passions in life was music. He listened to all sorts, but his favorite was big band music. Marty also enjoyed golfing and giving jewelry to his loved ones. He loved dressing up and always looked nice. Marty had a collection of 50 shoes, and several watches, and guns. Marty enjoyed traveling. His favorite trips were cruises to the Caribbean.
Marty is survived by his fiancé of 14 years Kathy “Katie” Purcell; his siblings Yvonne (Chris) Loehrlein, Vivian Grant, Sandra Hatfield (Kent Hayden), and Randy Curtis Grant; many loving nieces and nephews; and longtime best friends Dr. Lori Lynch, Julie Blevin, and Dennis Winslow.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents.
