Mom was a wonderful mother who loved all of us unconditionally. Through her actions she taught us to work hard, love one another, be respectful and responsible. Even while taking care of her family of 7, plus sometimes her father or boarders, she managed to always cook us a hot meal, we always had clean ironed clothes, polished shoes, always on time for church and school. She was amazing. She not only managed to care for us but donated her time to church working in the nursery and bible school and camp. In addition she was a reading aide and PTA officer at Baker School. We all loved her so much and appreciate all she did for us.

Nanny was a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother. I will forever remember Sunday lunches followed by word searches, kerplunk, perfection or don’t break the ice. Not one Thanksgiving goes by without your venison on my mind; created from Papaws hunt that year of course. I pass the Virginia Street house almost daily and always think of Nanny and Papaw swinging on the porch. I know you are with your sweetie again Nanny. Love you both.

I’ll always remember my Nanny as a great nurturer and a wonderful host. She taught me to always make others feel welcome when they are in your home. She always made sure that others needs were tended to before her own. I hope to pass this same ability to care for others down to my daughter. Her selflessness and love will live on forever through her family. We love you Nanny
