As you told me right after you learned of the struggle you were facing, if you weren’t healed on this earth, you would be in heaven. Thank you for your commitment to St. Matthew’s Choir. That was some tenor voice you sang God’s praises with. We go all the way back to high school. I cannot ever remember seeing you angry or unkind. Rest in peace my friend. You will be missed until we see each other face to face.

Ora “Alan” James, 70, went home to be with the Lord on May 7, 2019. He was born on June 20, 1948 to Earl and Lucille James in Evansville, Indiana.
Alan was a wonderful father, husband, grandpa, and great-grandpa. In 1968, he married the love of his life Regina. Alan was a graduate of North High School class of 1967. He served his country in the United States Army and in the Vietnam War. Afterward, he was a tool and die maker for over 30 years at Faultless Caster. Alan was a fisherman and a hunter. He enjoyed bass fishing and hunting deer. He loved going on fishing trips on the two boats he owned. Alan was a member of VFW 1114 and Point Man. He was also a past member of St. Matthews Church and current member of Catalyst Church.
Alan is survived by his wife of 51 years Regina James; his children Scott (Jennifer) James, Lisa (Chris) Miller, and Paul (Danielle) James; his grandchildren Heather (Cody) Dougan, Dylan James, Haven James, Charity (Jared) Hermayer, Keenen (Brooklann) Peaches, Kaylise Peaches, Sebastian Miller, Cameron Miller, Trace James, and Faythe Hochstetler; his great-grandson Kaidence Peaches; his siblings Francis McQueen, Pattie Bowman, Becky Dann, Denny James, and Rooney “Bob” James; his long-time family friend Laura Wilkerson and many loving nieces and nephews.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents and three of his siblings.
Friends and family can visit from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 12 p.m. on Friday, May 10th at Sunset Funeral Home with a burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
