I met Steve in the early parts of 2019, so my time knowing him was brief. In that short amount of time, I was unable to be around him as often as I would have liked. However, to see how much love his family had for him, and the way he spoke to those he loved, shows just how beautiful of a person he was and how lucky we all are to have had him in our lives. My condolences are with the family and friends of Steve.

Rick and I met Steve and Linda 48 years ago when they moved next door to us on Delaware Street. We became best of friends with Steve and Linda and shared so many memories over The years. Birthdays, our children getting married and then births of our grandchildren and great grandchildren. We loved Steve like a brother and will cherish our many memories of the greatest friendship we shared with our buddies, Steve and Linda. Linda we love you. Steve; we love you, Rest in Peace, until we meet again.

Stephen Elmer Marx was born in Evansville, Indiana on November 12th, 1944 to Elmer Bud Marx and June Blackburn Marx. Stephen went to be with the Lord on November 30th, 2019, at home with Heart to Heart Hospice. Stephen married the love of his life, Linda Louise Lamey on November 9th, 1963. Stephen and Linda were childhood sweethearts from the ages of 13 and 12. They just celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. Their love and commitment to one another was a shining example of everlasting love. From that love, two daughters were born 3 and a half years apart, Lori Lynn Turi and Jodi Kay Phelps. Stephen was the eldest of four children followed by Gary, Mike and Janet. He deeply loved all his siblings and was the quintessential big brother and trusted father figure. Stephen enjoyed time with his family, fishing, playing pool on his beloved grandfather’s pool table and camping. He loved adventures, singing love songs to Linda and telling stories about his grandchildren. Stephen was also the epitome of a hard working man, which was evident in his 40 year retirement from JH Rudolph. Stephen never met a stranger and was willing to help anyone in need throughout his life but he mostly loved the memories he created with Linda, his children and grandchildren. He was loved by us all as well as extended family, friends and neighbors.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Linda Louise Marx (Lamey). Daughter, Lori Lynn Turi (Marx), son-in-law Shawn Turi and their children, Shauncey Turi, Sabrina Grudzinski (Turi) and her husband Nathaniel Grudzinski and great granddaughter, Adeline Grudzinski, Sierra Turi and Ilaria Turi. Stephen is also survived by his second daughter, Jodi Kay Phelps, ex son-in-law, Lionel Reed Phelps,II and their children, China Phelps and great granddaughter, Cora Baumgart, Kennedy Phelps, Brok Phelps, Quinn Phelps and Zane Phelps. Stephen is also survived by siblings Mike Marx and Janet Marx.

Stephen was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Bud Marx and his mother, June Blackburn Hill, brother Gary Marx and two sister in laws, Diane Marx and Doris Marx and brother in laws, Mike Lamey, Billy Lamey and Ronald Smith.
