Thomas R. Hale Jr., 74, of Columbus, passed from this life at 7:50 p.m. Monday, August 24, 2020 at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mr. Hale was born August 8, 1946, in Evansville, Indiana, the son of Thomas R. Hale Sr. and Thelma Crook Hale.
Thomas married Linda J. Dean, February 21, 1970.
He retired from Duke Energy in 2002 after 29 years of service.
After retirement he did consulting work for REMC for 7 years.
He was a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving on the USS Intrepid.
He was a member of St. Johns Masonic Lodge #20, Evansville Masonic Lodge #64, Scottish Rite and Murat Shrine.
He enjoyed fishing, watching old movies, traveling with his wife on their motorcycle and spending time with family.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years; son, Brian (Jennifer) Hale of Indianapolis, Stacey Hale of Columbus and Melissa (Brandon) Crawford of Tennessee; grandchildren, Jacob and Collin Crawford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lori Hale and a sister, Deborah Hale.
The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with John Sichting officiating.
Family and friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
We do ask that visitors follow the social distancing guidelines once inside the funeral home and masks are required.
A second calling hour will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Funeral Home in Evansville, Indiana.
Graveside service will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Evansville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or Wounded Warrior Project.
